As part of our commitment to reducing operational emissions, Baclands now uses electric vans for local deliveries and collections wherever practical, through a vehicle partnership that lets us match the van to the load on every job.
Short, frequent trips between suppliers, sites and stores make up a large share of construction transport in London. Moving them to electric vehicles cuts emissions and noise around occupied buildings, which matters on projects where people are living or working alongside the works.
From this year, mileage is logged per job and feeds into the annual reporting under our Carbon Reduction Plan. Longer runs continue by conventional vehicle where an electric option is not yet practical.
