Electrical reinstatement of a fire-damaged residential block

Full electrical reinstatement of a residential block after a fire, delivered in nine days from initial survey to certified handover.

Projects · 23 July 2026

Following a fire that damaged the primary distribution routes serving a residential block, Baclands was appointed to restore power to the building safely and as quickly as possible. The complete reinstatement was delivered in nine days.

The project brought together more than 20 suppliers, specialist trades and managers, with procurement and contract administration running in parallel with the work on site. Our team surveyed and mapped the existing installation, installed new sub-mains and containment, and decontaminated and tested the retained switchgear, through to full testing, certification and handover.

Lessons from the project

  • Survey before stripping out. Establishing how the installation is configured on site, rather than relying on legacy drawings, set an accurate scope and allowed orders, labour and sequencing to be fixed from the outset.
  • A single point of responsibility. Managing procurement, contracts and site delivery under one team removed the hand-offs that typically slow reactive work.
  • Staged testing and energisation allowed supplies to be restored progressively rather than all at the end.
