Our business and supply chain
Bacland Limited, trading as Baclands (company 15771031), is a small UK company providing measured 3D surveys, design and planning (including planning applications and technical and Building Regulations drawings), construction and refurbishment as principal contractor, and maintenance and repairs. We also lease homes from their owners and let them to residents, acting as the landlord. This statement is published voluntarily for the financial year ending 30 June 2026; the company is below the statutory reporting threshold.
Our work is delivered by a small team and a network of vetted subcontractors. Our supply chain consists mainly of trade subcontractors, labour providers, consultants, and suppliers of building materials and equipment.
Where the risks lie
We recognise that the main risks in our sector are in construction labour: agency and gang labour, multiple subcontracting tiers, recruitment fees, and workers who depend on an intermediary for transport, accommodation or their identity documents. Building materials and equipment sourced through long international supply chains also carry risk.
We do not treat a supplier as low risk simply because of its location or because it has a written policy.
Our due diligence
Before appointing a subcontractor we identify who employs and pays its workers and how they were recruited. We check that:
- workers are paid lawfully and directly, and are not charged recruitment fees;
- workers keep their own identity documents and are free to leave their employment;
- the employer has carried out the right-to-work checks it is responsible for.
We record the assurance we receive. The employer's legal duties remain with the employer.
Contracts and site awareness
Our subcontract and supplier terms prohibit forced labour, debt bondage, trafficking and the retention of workers' identity documents. They allow us to request reasonable evidence and to require corrective action or end the relationship.
Site inductions explain the warning signs of exploitation and how to report a concern. We speak with workers on site, not only with their employers, and we follow up concerns that are raised.
Reporting a concern
Report concerns to the Director at contact@baclands.co.uk or by confidential post to 1 Albion Place, London W6 0QT. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. The Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline is also available on 08000 121 700.
We do not confront a suspected exploiter or put a worker at further risk. We preserve information, seek police or specialist help, and consider the welfare of affected workers before suspending or ending a supplier relationship. No one will suffer retaliation for raising a concern in good faith.
Effectiveness and review
We keep proportionate records of supplier checks, concerns raised, induction attendance and corrective actions, and use them to judge whether our approach is working. The Director is responsible for this statement and reviews it each year.
